Welcome to the Seiko Forum - The Dedicated Seiko & Japanese Watch Forum

Welcome to The Internet's Finest Seiko Community -- SeikoForum.com. Welcome to the Seiko Forum! Our forum aka "home on the internet" is the place to have an intelligent discussion of Japanese Horology, including watches, clocks and anything that keeps time. We have a focus on Seiko, Grand Seiko, Seikosha, Credor, and all of Seiko's other subsidiary brands. We also provide sub-forums for Japan's other important watch brands: Citizen, Orient, and Casio -- each with their own unique design languages and histories.

In 1881, Kintaro Hattori opened a watch and jewellery shop in the Ginza area of Tokyo; eleven years later he began to produce clocks under the name Seikosha. It is from these small roots that the technological giant now known as the Seiko Corporation has grown. Unbeknown to many, Seiko are a significant company in the history of horology, producing the world's first quartz wristwatch in 1969 and arguably the world's first automatic chronograph that very same year.

Today, Seiko paves the way in all areas of wristwatches with its advanced Spring Drive technology, innovative E-Ink watches, highly accurate Thermocompensated quartz models, cutting edge GPS wrist instruments and traditional, ultra-sophisticated Credor and Grand Seiko offerings. Seiko are also one of the most vertically integrated watch companies in the world, even making such minor items as the oils used in lubricating the watches and the luminous compounds used on the hands and the dials - a true manufacturer in every sense of the word.

Orient Discussion

Welcome to the Orient Watch Forum. Orient Watch is a Japanese watch brand owned by Epson. Established as an independent company in 1950, it became a functional subsidiary of Epson in 2009 before being fully integrated into the company in 2017. Until it was absorbed into Epson, the Orient Watch Company had primarily marketed mechanical watches (self-winding & hand-winding), but also produced quartz, light-powered (solar) and radio-controlled models. Outside of the main business, the company produced some moving parts and electronic components that were then assembled into Seiko Epson's electronic devices.
